I have seen quite a few of these large bushes in my town and I just love them. I can't seem to find them in any nursery. Does anyone know where I can get one or what time of the year I can root a cutting?

These plants root readily. I've been sucessful planting cutting's w/o root stimulator. Just jab a cutting in the groung where you want it to grow. Super easy.

Ask someone who has a plant in your town if they'll share.

If you get a shovel and dig up a small trunk with the shallow roots, it will do great.

If you can't get a cutting, Plant Delights Nursery has both the double and the single varieties.

Thanks bettydee for that nursery. Msqueen, what time of of year do you do this and how long is the cutting?

The cuttings can be done now or in the spring. My one foot cuttings, one with a few roots the other not, grew well. They had no help and I had big plants in a year. I imagine with a little TLC, they'd shoot the moon.

Thanks queen, I'll ask for a few cuttings from these people....How exciting.

You're so welcome, fancy. Passalong gardening...it's the best!

Fancyflea,

My sister-in-law has one in her back yard and she would be glad to give you a cutting if you would pay postage.
I took 2 about 2 wks ago and it has already sprouted roots. It is a lovely plant. She says it get big. She cuts it to the ground each winter and it come back every year.

Let me know and I will get you a cutting this weekend.
