Iochroma

Batesville, AR

Hello, I am looking for Iochroma or Iochroma cuttings. I can do a trade for them or pay postage. This is for a secret santa recipient who is hard to get for. It will be the perfect gift.

I have iochroma australis. No cuttings yet. I am sorry. I have it grown from a cutting since this spring. Next year (spring/summer) I can trade cuttings hopefully.

Gordon I love that red one! Never seen it before. I am a member of the Dutch orangery club and I collect all different kinds of tropical plants. Do you maybe want to send me a cutting of that one?

Batesville, AR

Hi Gordon, yes I have heard Of Highland and the tornadoes that went threw there. Is your cousin ok? I heard the whole area got tore up pretty good.
Yes I am interested in trading. Your red is just what I am looking for. Thank You.

How do you root those?

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

I've no real idea how to root them...I have some in water..but there's not much going on... I'd suggest a moist... humid sprouting aquarium..in seed starting potting soil..or one of the cloning spraying machines... based on the lack luster water try I have just done.. there were lots of seeds trying to rippen.. as I brought it into my cool room.. if they seem to ripen.. I'll have some to offer.. now they are just real green.. but I too would like a more difinitive rooting suggestion..

I found this information:

https://drill.securenet-server.net/~robert1/cart/product_info.php?products_id=1572&osCsid=f55c97477b43ff51acdbf9d22042b682

Propagation: Cuttings and Seeds. Allow unblemished fruit to ripen; clean and dry seeds.

Rooting directions:
You can root in water with liquid rooting hormone- keep water fresh changing it often. If you have an aerator to keep the water bubbling, it will likely root quicker but its not necessary. Cuttings will also root in light potting soil with bag placed over pot to raise humidity.

I am hoping someone has some of the red (Iochroma fuchsioides) cuttings to trade! I have a greenhouse, so should be able to successfully root some. Please dmail me if you have fresh cuttings.

I have a red one NOID that I can probably cut more, but it is a super fat cutting then, a little over an inch wide.
I traded a lot with it already.
I will go out in the morning and see if I can weezle one more cutting session out of it. IFI can cut it haha it is so wide!
