Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Quoting:
The kids wear them sometimes too

That is so true!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh, I stick them with my paper recycling.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you supposed to remove them??!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Did you see that new story last year about the little girl with the cough? they couldn't figure out why she had this constant cough, come to find out she swallowed one of those labels and it was stuck in her throat.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

OMG! Who woulda thought?!!!!

Jen, aren't they kinda small for going in the paper recycling? I recycle all my paper here, junk mail, etc. I hate to throw anything in our landfills that could be recycled.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Are you serious, Jen?!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'm serious I recycle.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I had a collection of banana brand labels once. I kept it on paper and I had quite a few different ones. Boy, did I have time to kill in the old days or what?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I definatly need a life if this thread occured to me

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL!

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

If it occurred to you, Jo??!! You're not sure?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i stick them in the trash - and i've bitten into a few that were hiding on my one a day granny smith apple too, mostly when there were two stickers and i only look for one.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

how annoying
Never bitten one.
Cooked a few

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

lol me too. I make my own applesauce and occasionally it is flavored with labels. My foley food mill catches them though before they get to the final product.
Martha

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Garnish. I always wondered why they stuck them on. Now I know.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Little works of art for your fruits and veggies!

I think they carry a id code in case the customer buys pomegranets at 3dollars a pound and weighs the bag using the store code for apples at .25 cents a pound.(just an example ,dont ask if apples are that cheap here)
OOOPS forgot to explaine
Our local groceriestore Wegmans, allows the customer to choose and weigh their own produce.Sometimes customers cheat .

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

From a hoarder, they would make a nice collection :-)

Thomaston, CT

I knew I loved Wegman's! But I hate those labels---cut a lemon slice for my tea, never saw the label, had to fish it out & start again---and what's to prevent someone from spitting on the fruit, then sticking on the label? UGH

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

ewww!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

OMG Marilyn never considered that.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Can you bleach fruit?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We should always wash any produce.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I think stronger cootie protection is in order ge in this case.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We used to do, 'Jax, one, two, three, four, five!' That would properly protect us from cooties.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Here goes. Saying 'Jax, one, two, three, four, five' to this pear

Bummer. I killed it.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

death of a pear is such a sad thing

Thomaston, CT

Too funny! I'm lucky the pears came from our tree---a little disfigured, but tasty, & no pesticides!

OHHHHH that pear tree.
Made a nice painting I gotta say.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I SO want a pear tree but you have to have 2 for cross pollination methinks.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - a pair.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Starks sells one that has 2 varieties grafted for xpollination!

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Thats the one I have and they must be good cause the squirrells get to them before I ever do. Rat tailed bums!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Hmmm..... pairs!

I don't think those labels would stick very well if you spit on the fruit before putting them on.

Karen

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi Jadajoy, I just planted one of those pear trees this past spring. When did you plant yours? I guess I'll have to invest in some netting, huh?
