It is the species Acer palmatum and it is about a 100 years old. I hope I look as handsome as that when I'm a hundred!

This tree came from Kyuka bonsai nursery, Omiya. Possibly collected in the wild.

Originally, but one man, or woman but doubt it, grew and nurtured and trimmed and chopped for probably their lifetime before returning (themselves) to the soil. Kudo's to that guy. He definately had a spiritual connection with that tree and is probably still connected. He's there, you're looking at him. And he's feeling your love and energy and growing off of that. Probably not thru the computer but when you were there. You felt enough of "something" in order to want to take that picture.
