old jeans

Here's an idea to put your old jeans to good use. A friend of mine used an old pair of jeans as a planter. The jeans are supported with rebar and filled with sand. He then planted a cactus. It is now 4 yrs old and holding up just fine.

Does it have to be rebar?? Can I use Galvinzed pipe?

shouldnt think it makes a difference.PVC pipe might be too brittle.

Hi all,
I am going to use conduit. I found 1/2" conduit at Home Depot for 97 cents for an 8' length. It is cheaper that rebar or pvc. I can get connectors and everything.
I am going to make a Sharecrow, using the jeans idea and an old denim jacket.
I have found a basket I can use for the head.
I am going to plant strawberries in one and other veggies in the other.

I can see how you would be confused when I talk about planting, I was confused.
I am going to built 2 sharecrows, one at my place and one at my daughters so the
grandkids can have something to water, ha I will have to put a drip timer on it or it
will dry out.
I am going to use the baskets for heads, one will have sweet pepper plants and
the other will have geraniums.

I thought maybe you welded the rebar and drove it very deep into the soil.
I think you had some great ideas. I bet I will have to dr. them to keep the Fireants out.

Such a cool idea didn't care for the blue jean shorts planters but love this idea and it would be so cool in my side yard I'm trying it! Just have to mark this page so I'll remember :) Thanks for showing us!
