Diabetic med

I am hoping someone here can shed some light on a question I have about metformin. My doctor put me on it yesterday. I got home and I am supposed to take 1000 mg twice a day. I read about all of the possible side effects. I am very hesitant to take that much to start with. I did read online that it is suggested to start at 250 mg once a day for about 2 weeks and then increase it.

My bs yesterday after lunch was 114. I am rather afraid my bs will go too low on this dosage.

I can't remember if my AC1 was 7.2 or 8. something when I saw him. I will have to get a copy of the test results.

I would appreciate any insight on this.
