What should I do with it, other than hang it in a window? Its an EA plant, that I scored at HD. It appears this plant has been well watered, the leaves are very thin and non succulent looking. Its probably on potting soil.
For soils, I can use some organic compost which is coarsely chopped with some charcoal and pumice and leave out the potting mix. But I am not wanting to put it solely on bark, as I never water enough for bark, or so it seems. What does my compost, charcoal and pumice sound like to you all?
How quickly should I transition this plant to such a substrate?
My new Dischidia ruscifolia is now at home
I know people have transpotted up EA plants successfully. I haven't. I would just keep it in the original pot and water from the bottom when it is really dry.
My experience with this one is that when allowed to get really dry, it drops a ton of leaves. And this is a location that has really high humidity. Bright light but no direct sun; no change of potting soil (and mine is an EA plant also) although I did take the saucer off so it would drain freely; fertilize weakly, weekly, when new growth evident and... enjoy. I love this one. Congratulations on your new acquisition!

Lin, aka plantladylin, has good success with this plant the way she grows it

LOL ... and my success with this plant is strictly luck! My plant is an Exotic Angel also and I am truly amazed at how well it's done. Normally I re-pot every plant immediately upon arrival at my house into my own medium, but this one I just left the way it came. I keep mine on the dry side but it's hanging out by the pool where it's very humid. When I do water, it's with the garden hose and I try to stick the hose up underneath the hanging foliage to get water into the soil. During the summer I watered once a week but now that it's finally cooled off a bit here it only gets watered every two weeks. My plant gets filtered sunlight all day but it's shaded from the very hot afternoon sun by the large Schefflera tree just outside the screened pool area. I haven't had any leaf drop and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to do well for me. This is the first (and only) Dischidia I've ever tried and I figured I would treat it like the Hoya's. I gave it a dose of the beer formula fertilizer once in early summer and in early September I fed it when I was fertilizing my orchids ... it was full of teeny blooms at the end of September, after I used the orchid food.
Most excellent. I am glad that you have had great luck with this plant. Your Distichia is a total beauty!

A lot of leaves were going red and dropping, so Ive moved mine into a plastic hanger and keep it moister ( more moist ).We shall see
Is 'moister' a word? Sometimes you write something and you think...hmm.........is that english.......??
I sure hope so, I like succulents as I am a forgetful waterer.
