Now I know why I don't have any Red-Winged Blackbirds, you're hogging them all! Beautiful shots.

Beautiful photos Red! Don't you just love that squeaky door hinge call of the Yellow-headed BBs? It took me forever to get photos of those birds on our lake. They really move fast through the tullies. Love the sunset pics too!

What a great vacation spot that you have found! Wonderful pictures too!

Juney, You appear to be military from your address. Ft. Sill is adjacent to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. They have an RV park and also some small cabins to rent there. It's called Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area (LETRA). It's a great park, but access is a pain. They seldom open the gate near the refuge and sometimes close Apache Gate near I44 forcing you to go back into Lawton and through Key Gate. A trip of about 25 miles to go a few hundred yards when returning from the refuge.

Lots of wildlife, bison, deer, elk, turkeys, coyotes etc and good birding. You should try it sometime.

LOL, Try it w/ a small group. (because of coyotes)

Coyotes are not a threat. Heck! I put out treats for them. :)

I had to look it up and it looks great - attractions nearby include Mount Scott, a wildlife reservation, Holy City, Geronimo's grave site, and historical sites on Fort Sill
This review left me giggling: "This campground is remote and basically quite. Artillery impacts can be heard and an occasional convoy does go by." It was a real shocker to my sister to have the traffic slowed up by tanks at Ft. Polk (they are real slow and too big to pass) The things we put up with to enjoy life!

Talihina, OK

Red I been thinking about coming over that way ,but been kinda tied up with family ,,maybe next spring ,I live in SE Oklahoma (Talihina) we are overun with Robins right now ..Seems like at about the same time each year they really flood this area then move on and are replaced by the red wings for another 2 weeks or such ...

Salt Plains is best during the fall migration. The whoopers aren't always seen there in the spring. It's a neat place and worth a visit. Worlds different from your part of the state.

I have a lot of Robins around here now, too. I see hundreds every evening flying to roost. Looks like the go out into the country during the day and come back to Norman to roost.
