Hi, just thought I would check in, share some pictures and give you guys an update on my farm. Wish I had more time for the computer, but its the last bit of descent weather before winter sets in, and every spare moment is spent trying to get the farm ready for the cold.
My kids giving the chickens the jack-o-lantern to eat this morning
hi everyone, update and photos
I am now up to 16 chickens Buff and dark Brahmas, Houdans and supposed EEs. I got the lumber last week to build a shelter for the goats and Llama that I plan to get in the spring, Now I just need to build it and put up a good fence. The garden has been tilled and is ready for the veggies in the spring....Things are busy but going well.
The children are beautiful, and seeing them with their friends is so much fun.
The pic of you and spiderman is cute, my wife commented that she thought you were a very nice lady. The smile is million dollar. I had to laugh because ZZ's has a rooster named spiderman also. If your not familiar with her she is on the road now but used to be on all the time and is a great lady also. I hope you all have a great and happy winter season. Love the pic's thanks. Haystack
Thank you for sharing! Before I found this forum I had no idea how many kinds of chickens there are! Are the chickens in the pic with your kids, hens? That is something else that surprised me as to how big some of them can get. We had some type of banty when I was very young (about 7 or 8 years old) so that was the only type of chicken I had been up close & personal with. When we went to any fair we usually didn't get to go see the poultry since my mother said they were too smelly and dirty (she has an aversion to birds for some reason, she didn't even like it when we brought bird feathers in the house).
Hay, I know a lot of people with roosters named Spiderman. every young boy wants to name his rooster Spiderman! happy winter season to you too.
Looreen, No the chickens in the picture with my kids are roosters. They were purchased as pullets but grew up to be roosters. They're so sweet and the kids love them, so for now we just have a lot of pet roosters....8 to be exact ;-)
Loved the photos, especially the kids! Thanks for posting, you made my day!
