November To Do List
I forgot to sprinkle my larkspur seeds yesterday when I was putting out my poppy seeds! Thanks for that reminder!
Yes., everybody like I mentioned on another thread toss out some Wildflower Seeds, come spring you will be so glad you did. Just remember, if we don't get rain, you need to keep them wet for the best germination.

yes, thanks for the reminder. I put out the larkspur...have to remember poppies. I also bought a seed packet of kale but...I can't find it ! One of the problems with seeds
My problem with seeds is that I forget that I have them! LOL I also need to plant my Sweetpeas!
Everybody forgets about seeds that's why I try to remind people. I love using seeds I think they are more reliable then plants, but by the time we actually see the plants its too late in this area to sow them. For Wildflowers anyway. I write it on my calender but we have through mid January to sow most of them, but if I put it off then even I forget.
I live north of Houston & am planning on mowing the weeds in my front yard so I can sow my bluebonnets.
I also have Aggie 'bonnets' that I will be sowing in the other front yard!
Cross your fingers that I get something to bloom either color in my front yards!
:~)
From what I have read 2 main reasons that seeds don't germinate is 1) they don't come in contact with the ground.2) they are covered too deeply and never make it to the surface once they do germinate.
Smockette-when you mow the weeds make sure the BB seeds aren't just tossed on top. you can use a rake to get them in contact with the soil. Also, I would love to see your Aggie bonnets when they come up, they are such a pretty color.
BB seeds can be soaked in water over night to aid in germination because they have that hard covering.
GF, I have frozen these seeds, both! I have mowed the very front of my yard (2 ac)! The dew is so heavy that I don't think I have to water them down.
Come spring, will tell!!!
:~)
Good luck!
Bump for 2010!!!!!
:~)
How did your aggie bonnets do this past spring?
Did everybody get Wildflowers this spring?
