I've been sucked into the eBay trap. I just won a Swedish strep- Morion(Gunilla Ridderberg) and some others from Lilriver. I am ashamed to say how much I bid on it. All in the name of instant gratification. :) It will be so worth it when I get my plants!!!!! Whoo hoo!!!!

You have lots of company , I just got a bunch of buy its from David Thompson and neilstreps on ebay , I keep saying I am dome for the winter and then I look again LOL but with the neils I am done as it will be getting cold here and I don't like to pay more for shipping and heatpacks so I will stop , here is his ebay link in case he has something you have been looking for , I did buy a Ford hyb , from him to and it might be worth your while to email him and ask him if he has more as I know you are looking for some and he has I think he said about 4000 streps so he may have some you want , he is really nice and would let you know if he has any you are looking for , Good Luck and I hope you and your's are well :)

We are all doing well, all thanks to God.
I was just in the back rearranging leaves. I put the streps on the bottom two shelves and the violets on the top two.
Sometimes I just sit and stare at the bloomers. I note tonight that Strep 'Miss Mable' has blooms that turn their face upwards rather than to the side. Very unique!
I know what you mean about staring at the blooms , I have several that are blooming now and I just can't get over how beautiful they are , my persian carpet , serendipity, bittersweet , paw print , salmon sunset , royal savana , black magic woman , and cherry roulette are blooming like crazy now and I just love to go by and tip the flowers up and look at their pretty faces :) Miss Mable I don't know , is it a pink ? there are so many and not all are at the streptocarpus site and I have only had plants for a year now and so haven't seen every one yet and from how many I have heard there are I don't know if I ever will :)
Tommy I am sure you will have a long list of streps you are going to want and if you are good with leaves you can get a lot of leaves from all the nice people on the forum , Jim and Gail sell on ebay and in the marketplace and they send nice healthy leaves so I hope you can get some to try and if you haven't joined the RR this year maybe you can be in the next one :)

Miss Mable is a red with a white throat and two yellow fangs. She was a new introduction this year by G. Thompson. I got mine from Marie Burns, who I'm certain got it from Paul Sorano at LLG. That's the only place I've seen it for sale. I think I have a leaf down of her- have to go check- but would be glad to send you one when the babies are bigger.
Off eBay tonight, I won Morion, Fall Fresco, Ambiente and Carly Sue. My order from David T. should arrive next week.
I was considering ordering some from Miller(Neil's Streps), but I think I'd better put the brakes on for a while.;)
My Suzie is blooming now too. I'm weak for any strep with a yellow throat, especially red ones.:) So, you can see why Texas Hot Chili is a favorite as well.
Many of the leaves I got from Jim are starting to send up babies and I'm tickled pink! I got Gail's a few weeks after that, so I'm sure hers will be reproducing in a few weeks too. Do you superthrive your babies?

Yes I use superthrive on everything including when I soak newly arrived leaves to plump and perk them up before I plant them , I have used it for years on all my plants :)
I was going to get Texas Hot Chilie too but got Stop Light instead , it is sooooooooooo hard to pick from Davids plants as they are all so lovely , I love the fantasy blooms so got his three :) As with you so many of my streps are blooming right now , part of it I think is the cool weather one of my Museum of Art plants hadn't bloomed all Summer and is now likeing the cool weather and putting out lots of buds :) but then my baby Museum has been blooming all Summer and still is , I think maybe cause the baby is downstairs and it is cooler there in the Summer too so I guess temps really make a big difference :) I just wish we had more sun now that we aren't getting rain with the clouds ............oh well with Winter comes the dark days , good thing we all have lights :)
I would love a Miss Mable baby in the Spring and if I have something you would like we can do a trade , I love trading :) you will be getting the RR box soon too so I guess you will be busy :) I only got a couple of leaves that were good and they are doing well now so I hope you find some really nice treasures in the RR box :)
I hope you are having a lovely Sunday , the weekends are always too short for me but there is another coming soon :) I gave my mom a haircut and perm yesterday and going to color it in two weeks so she will be ready for the hoiliday get togethers :)

I am in the same boat as all of you..........I promise myself I won't buy because I literally have no more space so now I don't even go look on ebay. Makes it a little better but not much.
When I was repotting today into larger pots and putting string in all the streps on one stand, it almost kills me to cut off all the blooms, but I want foliage for awhile. Throwing the blooms in the trash was even harder!!
There was only one I could not cut the blooms off of and that was Victorian Lace..........another DT (I think)
Once I get another gro light stand I can really start making baby streps again.........

So Gail, you mentioned putting string in your streps. ARe you wicking them?
Jim told me my streps which are on capillary matting (or an old blanket) would drink up the water and fertilizer better and easier if I put strings in them. So................that is what I did to one stand today. I am not wicking them on a grid like I do my avs, Shanika.........
I can't start on another stand tomorrow until I go find an iron to buy. Mine went out on me after 8 years (LOL)............Target used to carry the good Rowentas but I need to do some calling in the morning before I make the trek all the way to Corpus Christi.

Oh, Okay. My AV club president grows all of her violets that way. String in the pot on capillary matting. I have been contemplating how I will grow my streps once they get big. Wicking is not an option. Been there and done that and failed miserably. I like this method that you and Jim are using. Think I will try that.
Lynn, I love to iron!!! But I have always had the big professional Rowenta all my adult life.......makes a big difference. Right now I don't have the money to get my friend to even buy it wholesale for me as she has done in the past, so , for the time being, I am going to settle for ironing the old fashioned way (hard work) (smiling).
I have to wear ironed clothes or it drives me nuts!! Even my Tshirts from Walmart have to be ironed (lol) I also want lots of starch in my cotton clothes............
when i was in the army at ft riley,i used to take my uniforms in to get them cleaned and starched,Loved it,they stood in the corner ,it was very cool,
