Hello

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Stoping in to say howdy to everyone. I have been using my energy to clean bulbs that my son dug for me. That is some job. I really miss being on here more. Hope I can be after all the bulbs are in their little box beds for the winter. What has everyone else been doing in the garden?

Don't have any AV right now. They all got sick and died awhile back. I have had the worse luck lately with them. I had AV for many years and never have lost all of them. Yuck

Hey Diane! How the heck are you? So glad to see you posting! I don't frequent the AV forum as much anymore because I'm not growing them. I lost a ton of plants this past spring, all AV's, Episcia's, can't remember what other gessies. I made the mistake of not isolating new plants brought into the house and ended up with mites or something that killed a lot of plants. I still have a few Chirita's but they aren't blooming much ... probably because they aren't on light stands, I moved them outside on the deck! I had four stands with lights but took them all down. I could very easily get hooked on AV's again but I don't have much space in my small house and the stands with all the plants was taking up a lot of room. A couple of weeks ago I found one AV out on the back porch mixed in with other plants and it had a little bloom ... I think it's Irish Kiss but don't remember for sure. I found a couple of noid Episcia's that have come back to life a bit and I really think there's hope for them! I also found a little Kohleria Manchu that I got from Cedarnest in a trade a long time ago and it has re-sprouted. Only reason I know the name, is because the glass jar it's planted in was labeled! Usually when I have containers with just soil left in them, I think the plant has died and I dump them ... glad I didn't see this one or take the time to dump it out! I'm hoping it grows enough to bloom since it hasn't bloomed since I've had it!

Is it getting cold in Indiana yet? We had a little taste of fall weather for a few days about three weeks ago ... it was really nice with low humidity, very pleasant for being out in the garden ... unfortunately it didn't last long! We've been back up into the high 80's and low 90's with humidity to match! I don't like extremely cold weather, can't imagine dealing with ice and snow but it sure would be nice to get a little cooler!

Well, I hope you got all your bulbs cleaned! That's a new one on me since we don't dig bulbs down here, LOL. Of course y'all have some beautiful spring bulbs like Tulips, Daffodils, Crocus etc. that won't grow down here because of the heat.

Well, you have a great weekend and don't work too hard cleaning bulbs!

Forgot to say ... with winter coming I bet there will be "Bingo"!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Lin,

Bingo would be nice. It is Indiana weather here. It rains, gets cold, gets warmer, rains on and on. I really hate Indiana's falls as I get older.

I like you lost so many AVs I gave up and right now don't have room for anymore plants.

Hope things are well for you.
