Could anyone give me some tips for mild winters - zone 9a?
Winter tips
It depends on the plant.
I treat mine as they are supposed to be treated except on really cold times. The plant needs extra protection because it is in a small pot. I'll usually wrap the bottom as if that were the ground protecting it.
More tropicals come inside, but I try to get them right back out on nice days. Sometime even a shelter, like a shed, is good enough.
My problem is we get rain before a coldfront moves in. By the end of the season I'm so burnt out I don't care if anything lives or dies and I take what comes. I have too many plants.
I'm about 30 minutes south of Ocala on 75. Next winter,I'm going to try to limit my trees to cold hardy varities.
Ya, I hope it's not this global thing changing our temps. I'm from NewYork and just got used to planting stuff in Florida. 21* last winter, and I'm over closer by the water . I normally do not get frost.
