I've got some Virginia snakeroot (Aristolochia serpentaria) seeds to share
with those who have an interest in attracting the pipevine swallowtail to
their butterfly garden.
Send a long SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) to:
Loess Roots
POB 877
Stanton, NE 68779
Make sure you indicate you are wanting the Virginia snakeroot seeds.
For those not familiar with this plant, it is a favored native host plant
for the pipevine swallowtail. The plant is a perennial, does not get large
(say 15 inches high when mature), requires shade, and prefers rich soil with
moderate moisture. It grows as far north as Zone 4.
Looking forward to sharing!

Virginia snakeroot seed to share
Dear Rod,
Thanks for your offer of V. Snakeroot seed. You are very kind to share with the DG butterfly gardeners (once again). I will send off a SASE to you right away.
For those on the DG Butterfly gardening board who aren't familiar with Rod, he grows and collects a wide variety of hard-to-find native seeds (and plants?), and if you write him at the above address, he will send you a list of those available for sale. An excellent resource to know about!
Also, for those on the board who 'wintersow' I think the V. Snakeroot seeds really lend themselve to that manner of germination, although Rod can tell you more about the best approach.
Thanks again. t.
Thank you so much for your offer Rod...I will get a SASE out to you.
Please do tell us the best way to have success with the seeds.
Rod, I received my seeds and appreciate you sending them along! Hope I will be able to get them going in my yard.
