We all know this is one of the wettest falls in recent memory.
To the point we live in a 1920's charmer. Pier & Beam have lived in this type of build of home my whole life. Never slab. Moisture is so bad that towels hanging in the bathrooms are wet, wet from humidity.
Is anyone else experiencing issues like this. Our driveway is green, toilet tissue is wet and swelling. What is happening here. Is anyone else experiencing anything like this. I turned on the heaters today to attempt to dry the house out. I'm sure that under the house there is water, we have had so much at our home.
What brought this into reality were the towels today, after getting home from work both the husband and I grabbed our towels to dry off with after a shower and they were wet, so after wards I placed in the dryer to dry and later put them back in the bathroom....guess what they are wet again..
Anyone else experiencing damp conditions like this????
It is normal for our home to have some water under it after really heavy rains, but this has just been non spot and no periods to dry out. Tomorrow will turn the heaters on to attempt to dry it out while the next 12 hours of rain we are expecting.
Dampness
We turned on the AC today to get the humidity out. We also run a fan in the bathrooms after showering.
cocobid, is possible that the land under the house has subsided enough to change the grade of the yard so water runs toward the house instead of away from it? We experience water in our new house's basement a few times when we lived in Ohio. Watching where the water flowed during heavy rains, we discovered the builder had graded the house toward the house instead of away from it. In an older house you would have noticed it right away, but if your soil is clay and you were in a drought for any length of time, the soil shrinks and drops. Many of our roads have cracked and sections dropped a few inches due to the extreme drought we have been in. Perhaps the same thing happened to the soil around the house, enough to let water run under your house. You might consider having that checked or you could wind up with more trouble than wet towels.
