Are Yucca classified as "Tropicals" or "Cacti & Succulents"??

I would think tropicals...

They are succulent plants that are both temperate, and tropical.

Thanks.. that means you are both correct. : )

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

is there a key to determine if it is temperate or tropical.. like the temperate ones have or don't have spines on their tips.. spines is perhaps a poor example.. as I guess both have them..

Keaau, HI

Temperate Yucca are cold hardy, tropical Yucca are not.

In NY, Yucca filamentosa & Yucca flaccida are common garden plants, that survive the winters there. Other popular Yucca such as Yucca elephatipes are warm loving plants that won't survive cold weather. All those species are soft tipped.

To know whether a Yucca species is temperate or tropical, one must know what the species is.

Jeez, life used to be so easy before we had to know all this stuff ^_^
