Hi there!
My lemon trees have come inside for the winter and are blooming like mad! I'd like to hand pollinate (since the bees are outside) but I find that the pollen is very sticky and won't come off the stamens. The orange tree is like this as well. I've had some success with the Meyer lemon, it's pollen is loose and plentiful. Could I use the meyer lemon pollen on a different variety of lemon tree (variagated type)?
Thanks
Deb
tips on hand pollinating citrus?
Citrus are self pollinating, you don't need to pollinate- don't need bees either. If you want to, you can shake the tree a little to disperse the pollen.
Are Dancy tangerines self pollinating as well? I'm a newbie to this.
Hi Guavagirl!
My tangerines self pollinated in the house and I'm ignoring them so they'll grow.
Fabulous. Thanks so much.
