Gita, did you see this story about Latvia?

hart--I sent it to every latvian I knew that is in my address list.

An American friend from WVA wrote back and said---"I heard it was a hoax!".....

WHY? Just because they may have never heard of Latvia?????

Besides--Latvia is probably 80% "Open Fields"......Very agricultural, flat land. But--OH! SO beautiful!

Good grief. It was a legitimate story. In fact the other versions were all AP stories. I used that link because it had a photo. But apparently the crater was a hoax that initially fooled the experts.

I know. It was way too cool of a story to turn out to be a stunt. Oh, well. At least it was just a fake crater and not a kid not really lost in a hot air balloon made of a Jiffy Pop pan.
