I purchased some hibicus from a co op this past spring, and they are growing very well, and I have had nice flowers too! This is the first time I have had hibiscus, and some of them are really unique flowers. Can I leave them outside (mulched) or do I have to over winter them in the garage?
Hibiscus
If you are talking about the tropical hibiscus, they will definitely need to be overwintered indoors or in a warm garage in the Florence area. There is an outside chance that they might be root hardy there but it would take so long for them to come back in the spring you would not have flowers next year. I suggest a sunny window if possible.
That's what I thought....I have a Tsunami, Black Dragon, and a City Slicker....and I really want to save them. So inside they will come!
Having never grown them, I can't speak for Tsunami or City Slicker but Black Dragon, while it can be a tricky plant, is an excellent bloomer and should bloom all winter for you indoors.
