Has anyone tried using Euphorbia Milli in a forest setting?
Euphorbia Milli forest
They would be very challenging material to work with and make a believable composition from, because they branch and back-bud very erratically (when they DO branch) and tend to retain foliage only in the immediate area of the meristematic regions (growing tips of branches/stems).

Thanks for the encouragement Al. I broke off four pieces of my mother plant by accident and thought I would give it a go. All four pieces have rooted nicely and are all different sizes. The mother plant is full of appropriate stems and do to crossovers I was thinking of pruning her anyway. This just might be something to do with the cuttings.
Hi, My eyebrows went up when I read Euphorbia Milli as a forest setting. Definately a challenge. Can you keep us updated on it, withad? I'm picturing a slab of rock for the base, but the picture is too big.
Actually I started it yesterday, I took 11 cutting all total. 7 on one side 1 in the center and 3 one the other side. I had some interesting rocks outside so I used them along with two different types of moss I had in the yard as well. My mother had given me a rather large white and gold ashtray that she brought from one of her trips to England so I drilled two drain holes in it and used it as the base. If I can get my daughter to bring her camera over I will try and upload a photo of it. I picked the straightest stem from the Crown of Thorns but two have slight curves to them and hopefully I can pull them over and straiten them up. The center cutting has one small side shoot which I left on. I think it looks good but it's my first attempt and I am sure not up Bonsai standards by far but I like it. I'm unconventional to say the least ( I like to water root plants on my kitchen windowsill ) and I am sure there will be some that say something isn't right with it but it's mine and hopefully it will fill out.
sounds exciting, you're so brave
Do you know if you cut a leaf off, will it grow back smaller? or will it make a branch? I'm gonna try that on mine. if you don't know
