Another pest

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

This is poor Mis Behavin. Earlier this year she was really decimated by the deer and I have had a time keeping her alive. Today I noticed this white stuff on the trunk. It does not move like an aphid or a mealy bug would. If it is a scale it is the tiniest I have ever seen.

Any ideas?

Ardesia, kill it as soon as possible, its spreads like wild fire all over everything close to it even under the ground to the root system of the plant and it kills every thing it riches sucking the life out of it. use extra neem oil on it or malathion to kill them, don't let it spread or it will be very hard to get rid of, It looks like the white fly but worse as these tend to multiply much faster and cover the hole area where they have landed. it seems not to discriminate on the plants, it gets on everything close to it, don't know were it comes from or what it insect it is but neem oil seems to work pretty good on them as long as you spay them all and every thing around them with neem oil.

Hey Alice, check out this link...perhaps this explains your pest...?

Aaaaacccckkkkkkkk

That has to be what I have and this appears to be a terrible case of it. First I waited months for this plant then the deer attacked and now this. Out she goes. Mis Behavin is an appropriate name for this one.

Sadly she was in close contact with a favorite plant that looks clean so far but it is early in the morning and the light isn't good yet. I'll neem everything shortly.

THANK YOU

Ohhh I love Misbehavin'... when I saw yours I had to get myself one. Sorry it is having such a rough year and now you have to part with it. Mine is still small and just started blooming but if you can't replace yours I'll keep you in mind when I start pruning if you're interested

You are sweet to think of me. After this year I am seriously re-thinking hibiscus. This is serious because I have been growing them since the early 70's.

NOOO you can't give up on them...this is just nature knocking you backwards and giving you a rough patch...you're still on your feet and you have a bunch of people here that have your back. :-)

Sorry about your misfortune with Misbehavin. Please don't throw in the towel on them.
Would you like some cuttings of something else to root? Be glad to send you some. Don't have Misbehavin but Dmail me & I will tell you what I do have.
