Are they easy From seed

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I recieved some seeds of 'Maui Beauty at a friends funeral and was wondering are they easy from seeds? This one was her favorite, so she had little packets of seeds handed out at the funeral, they came from her own tree so I want to make sure exactly what I am doing, my friend was very important to me and I would like to keep them growing as it seems hers is dying now without her there to care for it

I personally have had mixed success. I ordered some seeds and had 90% germination and then I ordered another batch of seeds and only 2 sprouted. I'm not sure if weather had anything to do with it or quality/age of the seed. Hopefully someone else has more experience to share with you. Good luck!!

I have great success with seed, you just have to be patient and know that you may not see blooms for 18 months to 5 years. Make sure when you germ them that you do not over water and dampen them off. I would not start them until spring unless you have a light and heat mat to keep them going over the winter...especially in IL.

Sounds like you have the time, space and labor to pull it off!
The pink ones are seedlings of mine that have bloomed recently...

Trina buy cheap seeds to start with till you get the hang of it. Then once you have it toegther order what you want the seeds do not hold true to the mother plant. If you get maybe 10 you might get one might not kind of a crap shoot. Not an expert here but I enjoy growing seeds

Have fun sowing your seeds. I just recently sow a lot of them. And I hope I have plenty of time to see them flowering.

Talking about seeds, I bought seeds from Thailand off Ebay and out of 40+ seed 7 is making it!!! It is a lesson learned for me.i think i paid $20.00 for them. Belle

Trina, when did your green house get finished?

Baton Rouge, LA

I wanted to show a method I used to sprout seeds successfully. I used dampened coir as my rooting medium.

I kept the container covered for about two weeks. Some seeds sprouted in less than a week. These were deep plastic containers in which I had bought fresh fruit.

These were the seedlings after aboiut six weeks. I transplanted them into four inch pots to save room and carry them over the winter. In the spring I will transplant then into one gallon pots.

Hello everyone! ;-)
Quite some time ago (1997) I was given a gift of 6 Plumeria rubra seeds that I tried to germinate. I had luck. Was able to get two of the seeds to sprout although one of the seedlings didn't survive. I still have the other seedling (now a plant) that is taking shape. Since I knew nothing about growing Plumeria and stumbled upon davesgarden.com, I took a photo of what I had since I was curious and I was told that I have "Inflo" or "inflorecense". I'll post a photo just to show my success! I'm too excited for spring to arrive.
