Bonnie, avpat and anyone else I told I would send out boxes on Monday , I lied!!! Just talked to the computer tech and he is having trouble moving my thousands of pictures over to new computer (but I have to have them).
Therefore, I probably won't have a computer until the middle of next week...........
There is only one good thing that has and is happening because of no computer! I am working every single day on my plants.
I flushed all my streps yesterday.....took me all day and today (and this weekend) i am repotting all avs or at least flushing them with clear water. This little project will take at least 3 days.
I miss all of you so much...........very much!!!!

PS I am not suggesting that everyone needs the size pots I keep on hand but here are the sizes from Cape Cod.
21/4" rounds (very shallow and great for putting new babies from leaves of any size av and excellent for all minis for quite a while......many many months)
21/2" standards
3" rounds
3" standards
4" rounds or the one which is much shallower than a standard.
Along with solo cups, I am always able to grab the right size pot...........you will be shocked as you grow how quickly you can use 100 of each size.............

May I suggest getting a netbook as a backup? Decent ones can be had for just over $300. They're great for mail and web browsing and small writing tasks.

I hate computer problems. Earlier this summer the other one died. Husband had to put a new hard drive in and now we can't find any start up discs and it rejects anything else we try to put in. When it died, it took everything I had saved because I didn't use the external back up that sits beside that computer for a couple years now...dumb. Lost my First Class program, mad about that too. Now the newer computer has "crash dumped" twice this week. That can't be good either. Gonna need one of my kids to come along and help me save the Dixie convention stuff before I lose all that work I've saved for that. So Gail, you sure do have my sympathy!!! tish
Actually I am very lucky that this guy in Portland builds computers for a living and is always able to find pictures, etc on crashed computers.
The San Patricio Electric Company said that their insurance might pay for it since it was a major power surge........but..........I am not counting on that for sure. She said that since i didn't call the electric company to report a surge (during the middle of the night and I couldn't have known what was wrong with my computer until I got it to the tech until the next day)...........of course I didn't call the electric company as I had no idea what had happened.
Tommy, I have already made up my mind that when I can afford one, I am going to get an inexpensive netbook but can't do it right now........I will never have to go over 2 weeks without a computer again!!!
Check in tomorrow sometime and going back home to continue pampering my african violets..............

I counted this morning and I only have 116 avs to groom, flush and repot.........bet I get it done by tomorrow night (since I don't have a computer) ^_^

Hope you get back up soon. I have Carbonite as a back up since external drives fail. Ours crashed once. I sleep at night now with Carbonite!

You simply would not believe how much work I am getting done without a computer on my plants!!! Going to try and finish up on avs today and tonight.......then I might tackle potting to larger size pots on my streps this week!
But........don't ever think that is more fun than hanging out on DG!!
Going back home to hit the work again!
