Strange blossom on Logee's Inca Sun

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

I found a very different looking blossom on my Inca Sun brug - at first I thought it was shredded.

This is what the blossoms usually look like.

I like it. Wait and see if you get more of these flowers. Maybe you can propogate some more plants then of that piece of the plant.

Isn't it just winddamage or something like that?

Beautiful looking flower!. It's probably a weather or environmentally related effect on that one bud. I had a whole flush similar to that on one of my yellow Brugs once. The next flushes were normal. I could never pinpoint the reason for that happening other than weather or its age. It was a young plant.

Upon closer examination, mine was more shredded than split into petals. As Jori suggests, wait and see what other flushes along that branch give you. It would be exciting to have a yellow version of Star Dancer around.

The blossom looked like it had just developed that way. Each of the parts of the petal were very symetrical, and I could tell it wasn't wind damage after I looked at it.

You beat me to it bettydee I was going tosay it reminded me of Star Dancer (even though I have only seen pictures of her). Very nice pictures.

Beautiful flower. Occasionally, this flower form shows up in the fall on regular flowering brugs. I have never heard an explanation. Maybe yours will remain split. Good luck.

As long as it blooms, I'm happy - the unusual flower is just a bonus!

I haave had that happen, but mine did it in really hot Texas weather. I had it on several different brugs at once, and they also were normal before and after. I have one I saw today but did not take a pic. These were from 2007

this one shows blooms from several different brugs and also that it starts in the bud stage

The slits are not random. They divide the bloom in equal sections.

This one shows the buds better than my other pic...
