I have one beautiful plant about 7 ft. tall and many shoots. What do I do with it for the winter? Wait until hard freeze and cut it way back, or just let it go and cut it back next year? Zone 6a

Thanks,

Judy, I have heard to wait until spring to cut them back. That water gets in the cut stems & causes them to ruin. Cover them with a lot of leaves or mulch at the base of the plant. Mine come back every year & are already putting out green shoots when I remove the mulch & cut the dead part off. This is what works for me.

Mine just look so dad-blasted awful with their scrawny little stems sticking out every which way. We went down in the 30s last night. Poor thing's had it for this year. Will cover it up and pretend it's not there. LOL
