Trying to ID this. Thought it might be philo. applanatum. The leaves look like they aren't quite wide enough though. What do ya'll think? Applanatum or possible x of this?

I bought one a while back that looks like that, the ID was given as Philodendron sp. Brazil. But checking Philodendron applanatum on the plant files I'd say that's the same as mine:

Is this one also called horsehead philodendron?

I don't know myself, maybe someone else will.

I found this googling:

P. panduraeforme (Climber; L. sm., broad, heart-shaped, dull, dark green. They are somewhat shaped like a horse's head thus the name Horsehead Philodendron. Great house plant.);

And I just found this site which shows it's not the same:

Thanks for the link! I did look at the plant. But the plant in the picture doesn't look like the plant I received. Here's the deal. I bought a philodendron on the garden marketplace last summer. She sent me some extra plants. One was marked philodendron bippenifida. I have kept it labeled since I bought it. Now that I am getting into philodendrons, I see that it is not bippenifida 'cause that's the tree philodendron (have one of those too). I searched the plant files and began to think it should have been bipennifolium, but glaucous was the only one that came close to looking like mine. Then, I got another one in a plant trade. This lady said she only knew it as horsehead philodendron. But these 2 plants don't really look alike. Plant number one, the bipennifolium, looks most like the picture your link goes to. Plant number two, the one she said was horsehead, the bottom part of it is not rounded but more long and comes to a point. If my son comes over, I am going to get him to take a picture of them with his phone so you can see.

Here is a picture of my two philodendrons. I hope you can see them. My son took the picture with his cell phone. The plant on the left is the one sent to me as bippenifida that it think she meant bipennifolium. It is also the one I think looks like the picture in the link you gave, especially the bottom more mature leaf. The plant on the right in the red solo cup I think looks different. The leaves are more pointy and narrow.

Philodendrons can be really difficult when small. The leaves of a juvenile are often quite different to those of an adult. Those two look definitely different. Have you tried looking through the Exotic Rainforest site? They're quite good for IDs

I will try that! Thanks! I had considered they might be the same at first. But upon closer comparison, the infant leaves on plant one just don't look at all like the leaves on plant two. Though they are small and do not have the pointy parts at the top yet, the bottom part is still more rounded or "horse shaped". I will look at see what I can find.

I kinda think the philodendron in the solo cup looks like philodendron 69686. What do you think?

It does a bit, although the lobes on the one on that site look a bit bigger than yours.

Yes. I am wondering if it is because my plant is young. I guess we will see as it grows!
