yay for alpine strawberries

Santa Cruz, CA(Zone 9b)

I am really pleased with alpine strawberries (sort of ground covery ) for my shade garden, under some plumb trees. The little white flower goes all year in my zone and so do the berries. They are so cute and combine well with so many things. They are great and they were so easy to start from seed. I got them going then left them to practically die several times in there six packs and then planted them and they are now big and beautiful. Yay for alpine strawberries in a shady cottage garden!

Sounds so nice - not edible, are they? That would just be too good to be true.

What a great idea. Gotta love digitals, huh?

Oh, I agree. I can't imagine being without my alpine strawberries - mine is growing in full sun... I'm glad to hear they do equally good in shade.
The flowers and fruit remind me of fairies. My children don't like them all that much, so I can eat handfuls without feeling guilty. LOL!

Fairy fruit and flower hats exactly! They are part of my little fairy shade garden.
