Hello all,
My kind neighbor gave me seed from her lovely larkspur that appear in her yard every summer. It's time to sow them. Maybe this is a dumb question but is there anything I need to know besides scatter them about in the damp bed?
Thanks!

Any secret to sowing larkspur seed?
That's all I've ever done with larkspur seed...just scatter it where I want it and make sure it doesn't get too dry. That dryness thing doesn't seem much of a problem lately.
Now's the time to sow them, too. Don't wait until spring.
Do the seeds sprout now and grow through the winter? Or are these just seeds that need the months of cold in order to sprout? Just something I'm curious about.... :)
They shouldn't sprout until spring.
My heirloom larkspur comes up in about late January and stays small until the weather warms and then a growth spurt and blooms in March-April, depending on variations in the seasons. It fizzlea out as soon as it gets hot weather, or maybe it is the humidity because I got the seed from my mother and hers always lasted through most of the summer in New Mexico and their temp was as high as ours but no humidity. I've just let it re-seed itself for the last almost 30 years.
