Spice Finch - Spotted Munia - identification

Is my bird the same in the link? I also see some images with the scaly breasted munias but the colour of the breast is different. Mine was whiter.

Yes, same species. There is some regional variation in how dark they are, with darker birds in wetter areas like Assam. Also likely that cagebird breeders will have selected various colour variants in captivity.

I have a family of them that come to my feeder in my back yard in Texas. We call them Nutmeg Mannikins.

Yep, escapees in Texas; they are also listed by Sibley as having feral populations in Florida and California.
