I love garden spiders and have two egg sacs on window frame in a building in my yard. I've heard that some types of wasps can destroy them. Is there any way to protect the sacs from predators? The spider made a net or mesh to protect the sacs, something I've never seen before. They are large and colorful. As others have mentioned it is great fun to feed them. I can remember all the kids in the neigborhood gathering to watching me feed grasshoppers to a garden spider in Dad's boxwoods. We have cave crickets in our basement and I fed them to the spider regularly over the summer. She became huge and I re-connected with my inner child. This seems a safe and easy way for children to interact with nature.
