Am sure many of you are familar with John and Gloria Tveten. John and Gloria authored many books on the birds, butterflies, wildflowers and wildlife of Texas. He started feeling poorly at the Rockport Hummingbird Festival and went into the hospital in Baytown. He was suffering from cancer and was moved into a hospice house a few days ago. He passed away yesterday.
The birding and butterfly world lost a great man. He and Gloria spent lots of time in the lower Rio Grande Valley and I used to meet up with them at the local butterfly parks several times during the year. John was a wealth of knowledge and a good man you could call a friend. Gloria was always at his side - I've never seen such a close loving couple. It was always a pleasure to go out into the field with them.
John will be missed by all of us who knew him. If any would like to send a card to Gloria to offer your condolences or better yet, if you met John and would like to share your memories am sure she would treasure that.
