Both brugs are imported from Germany and from the Monika Gottschalk collection.
Pink Romance is a beautiful bright pink color with a heavy scent throw.....she's a joy to grow.
Sweet Lady, is one of my favorite brugs. SL's big, double, apricot blooms fill the air with fragrance, a vigorous grower that adapted well to our Louisiana climate. Blooms tend to keep shape & form for several days without any wilt down.
Pink Romance & Sweet Lady
Both very lovely, Cannagirl. Are you growing them under shade cloth?
Thank you Peony.
Yes, I have to keep the imported brugs in a quarantined area of my greenhouse. I use shade cloth in the spring/summer for these imports. Still, most of the imports get some direct sun because I don't cover the sides of my greenhouse in warm weather.
In addition to this, I grow cuttings in an outside uncovered quarantined area to see how well these imports adapt to our climate. So far, they have adapted extremely well with very little or no wilt down in the 100 plus degree temps.
Beautiful! You really grow some amazing brugs : )
Thanks for the info, Cannagirl, that's good to know.
Dollie, you Brugs look great!! Is that Sweet Lady in the background in the first photo. It's good to know some Brugs do well in our hot climate. Will you be using their genetics in your Cajun series? How is that coming along?
Hi Betty,
Thank you! Yes, Sweet Lady is in the background of the first photo. She is touching the roof top of my GH.
I posted a photo of my first seedling on this forum. However, not real sure if it will be a keeper for my Cajun series yet. Trish and I weren't aware at the time of pollination that your not suppose to cross two double brugs with each other. Trish crossed Lovely Lady X Marbach X Adeline X unknown. I guess two growing seasons will tell if we have a winner or not.
Yes, I'll mostly be using the German brugs genetics for my Cajun line....but I have a lot of beautiful brugs from the States I want to try crossing with the German brugs.
So far, I have about 20 seed pods left on the brugmansia shrubs. Winds knocked down a lot over the past two weeks. Some are almost ready to pick and now enclosed in the GH away from any wind damage.
In addition to the seed pods I have about 15 seedlings growing.....so, maybe something will be good enough to be named.
OOhh..cool!!!..brugs for our HOT heat??..mmmm..way to go, Dollie.
wow Dollie your brugs are beautiful
