I've gone and done it!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I posted some photos to the contest for the first time!! Whew! That's over!
I put in five. one each in wildflowers, houseplants, perennials, and two in bulbs. Now, nothing to do but wait! It turned out to be worth it lying down on the lawn on Easter Sunday this year to get some pictures.

Martha

PS This one is NOT an entry!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi Bev!
Good luck to all with their entries!!!! ^_^

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Yeah good luck to all. I can't wait to see some of these awsome pics. BEV

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Wow! 40! I have great bunches of them, but I was only really happy with these five.
Martha

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I have 2743 pics in my pics. I didn't take very many this yr tho. I have deleted hundreds. I love to take pics. Wish I could travel some. BEV

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I have more pictures than that but they are not all of plants. I still was only happy with those 5.
Martha

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I put some in that I am not real happy with. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so we will see what others think. Usually something I don't like, someone else will, funny!! LOL BEV

Always stressful to be juried

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I don't sweat it. It is just a lot of fun. My biggest thing is looking at other's pics.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Best of luck, Martha and Bev!! I hope you both have several chosen!!

Best of luck to you, Martha - and everyone!

I have not even started going through my pics yet.

Martha, I always say you're not a real photographer until you've laid on the ground to get shots! I did it one time last year and did not realize until I got up that I was on a pile of deer scat.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Ewwww, Victor! I hope you got a 1st place for that photo!!! LOL

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I was lucky on Easter Sunday, just an old layer of oak leaves and wood chip mulch. The summertime pictures I took standing up as they were all tall plants.
I just wish I had been able to get a picture of the humungus spider building its web across my kitchen doorway the other day. Instead, I almost walked into the spider with my face and had to assist it out of the building. It was beautiful but creepy and close.

Meant to say grab a drink and enjoy the show. I understand this was a photo contest from Annies annual seeds in California. I seem to remember buying seeds from here before.

I can NEVER decide whom to vote for in the DG photo contests - the quantity and quality of pictures is just overwhelming! I get glassy-eyed looking at more than a few pictures, even of my own plants or kids or something I should really care about. You photographers and contest entrants have all my admiration!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Cool spider web pic.

It is an overwhelming task voting for the best pics.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

is that a rock in the back ground Bill?
ha ha ha ha ha

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

It was a big jump for me, Carrie. I always take lots of flower and garden pictures but I never got around to entering any. I hope they do well.
Martha

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Congratulations, Martha! I never take as many as I mean to.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I have voted for myself and others in the categories I entered. i have to go back and look through the other categories! What gorgeous pics!
Martha

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

just did the mushroom category. I never knew they came in such fascinating colors! Wow!
Will vote some more tomorrow. i think for an extra 5 bucks, Dave should let us make a calendar either of our own entries or the ones we like a la carte. i am sure the ones of the winners will be beautiful, but there are some great pics up there.

Martha - you can easily do a calendar of your own shots - on that website or many others.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

But Martha's way would raise funds for Dave's!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I wouldn't want to trash people's photo rights. But my idea of the best is going to differ from yours or the things that amaze or amuse me about gardening will also be different.
Martha

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True, Carrie.

Martha - I was referring only to your own pics. You have a nice idea. You can always ask the people afterward to permit you to use their shots. I'm sure they would be flattered.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Whew, finally got thru all the pics...bulbs was a tough one to judge too.

See I havent been here and missed putting in the squirrel picture!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh nuts!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I am about halfway through the categories. I do 4-5 at a time. It's taking time, but it's worth it. So many beautiful pix.
Martha
