Plant ID please

This shrub was given to me by a very dear friend who since passed away. She had it in a pot in a shaded area of her Phoenix garedn.
I keep it outside in the shade (zone 6) and overwinter it in the house.
Never seen a bug on it.
What is it?

I am surprised how well it does under low light situations.
Of course I have no blooms.
Next year I will put it outside in a sunny spot!
