It's Thanksgiving Weekend. Crispy out there with temperatures hovering around 3C, but bright and sunny, so what better time to get some shots of the changing leaves.

Fabulous pictures! Thanks for sharing your fall with us. We sort of went from summer to winter. I have a light dusting of snow in my yard, and most of the trees still have green leaves! Not much pretty fall color at all.

I hear ya, Joanne. Actually most of our trees are still green in the neighborhood as well. I had to scout around to get the good colors. Mostly on the outskirts of the city or along the river.
Simply stunning here the story was a little different however....

We went to Grand Forks for the Thanksgiving weekend many years ago (family wedding) and that year the fall colors were amazing as well.

Hi Joanne!!! what specialty did you have in your garden this year?
Summer here, was very short lived. :( We got lots of rain in Spring and early Summer. Sun with hardly any rain the next month and a half, then got really cold and rainy again. Farmer are having the hardest time, getting their potatoes in.. We didn't see the snow you guys got, though. Just a mix of rain and snow last Sunday.

I am not an expert on grasses, but I think they are Pampas grass.
Ohhhh! Nice Pampas! I have grass envy! Maybe oneday I will be able to have some tough enough to grow here.

Karl Foerster should work for you, Ann. Mine grew easily to 61/2-7 feet this summer. Good to Zone 3.

Thanks for the suggestion and you are bang on as I have Karl already. Both his variegated, which is not as tall, and the regular one which has never reached 6-7 but regularly reaches 5 feet.
I do like grass and have Blue Fescue, Blue Oat and the Karls I have overwintered some Mondo grass for a few years inside which I will try outside this year and I paired it with the Japanese Hon........ I can never remember the spelling of that one. I use annual grass in my containers too so I have lots of fun but the big thing for me would be the Pampas as it is sooooooo showy! And HUGE. I might want to point out that you are in a few zones warmer than I. So many zone challenges, sigh, so little time.LOL

No problem, Ann. I can see you are well versed in Grasses. I love them too. Learned a lesson with some Mexican Feather Grass (Ponytail) this past summer. Had it in a big urn close to a little waterfall fountain. As pretty as it was there, the hairlike "feathers" bunged my fountain up good! What a mess. May not grow that one next summer. :(
