oyster shells

We are in Gulfport, Miss. on vacation and I have been collecting oyster shells. Is there any danger in putting them in my backyard pond?

i put live clams in mine that i found in a canal. i would think the shells alone can't hurt as long as they haven't been treated with chemicals, which would not be the case if you're just picking them up off the shore. LOL

Shells add calcium to the water and if in sufficient quantity can raise the pH.
