Hummingbird

Sugar Land, TX

Finally caught a usable shot of a hummingbird in my back yard. Can anyone tell me what type this is?

Thanks,
Chris

Great picture! I have the same birds at my feeders but I don't know which they are either. I'm sure someone will be able to identify it; your photo shows it so clearly.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

It looks like an immature male Ruby-throated.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

I'm thinking the same as Rose, an immature Ruby-throated . At first I thought it could be a female Rufous too, but I'm not sure they migrate that far east.

Sure is a cutie! Nice job on the photograph.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

One more ditto to immature Ruby-throated.

Rufous can get that far east (and more), but would have some obvious orange on the base of the tail.

Thanks all. That is what I thought it might be too but wanted other opinions.

thanks again,
Chris
