That's odd...

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

I have chickens that are about 6 months old now. Some I hatched in my bator and others I bought at the market when they were a few days old. They were sold as mixed big stock. Some of the ones I bought have odd feathers. It looks like hair when it has been "crimped". The feathers are not "flat" like the Dominiques and the RIRs. Any thoughts on what might cause it?

Cajun, they look like normal chickens to me, which shows you how much I know. The first looks like roo saddle feathers, but there seems to be little tail, are they possibly Auracana or or ameracauna crosses? My EE's have much "fatter" faces than my others, could that be what's concerning you? Please, could we see faces if you get a chance?

Margo whos' 6 EE "pullets" became three hens and three roos....
