CLOSED: NEW BIRD - FINALLY - Is it a Golden-winged Warbler?

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

It's been awhile since I could claim a new bird, but I finally got one. I looked in my books and I'm pretty sure this little bird is a Golden-winged Warbler.

Am I right?

It had a real good time in the bird bath.

I'm thinking this one is a male.

It stayed in the bird bath longer than the average bird (I got a lot of snaps of it) - I guess it could be refreshing itself from a long flight.. I wonder where it was a week ago?

I did notice that it flittered around a lot like a Carolina Chickadee.

Yep, nice Golden-winged Warbler!

A week ago - at a guess, somewhere on its breeding grounds in the Appalachians?

Awesome bird...congratulations!

Thanks to you two, Resin and gardenpom.

Appalachians, huh, cool. I wonder how far south its gonna go before it stops it migration?

I may never see another, but I got this one. I was in the right place at the right time, Makes me wonder what other new visitors I've had and never knew it.

Looked up - they winter in Central America, from Guatemala to northern Colombia. So its next task is to cross the Caribbean.

Thanks for taking the time Resin, hope no tropical storms get in his way.

I hope I see that one next spring, your pics will help. Even though I have a field guide, seeing the real deal kinda help's lock it in the head.

Good luck. I'm still looking for a re-appearance. No luck.
