CLOSED: anyone interested in canna 'pretoria"

Blackshear, GA

Had these at my front door, but now changing the scenery. I have several clumps. I would be interested in trading for a rooted cup of gold vine, or possibly other rooted tropical plants. Thanks

Would you like to trade for a nice clump of Hosta?

Hi Michelle,
Do you know the 'zone' on those? Most hostas don't do well down here, because it gets so hot.

Middleton, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't know the answer to that, GA. I know that there are other members in GA that grow them fine. What zone are you?

Blackshear, GA

I am in 8b, it gets hot 'as blue blazes' down here. I am willing to try them, they are plants, right? Send me a dmail.

Gagirl1066 you cam grow hosta just make sure that you put them in some shade,

I plant mine in morning sun, afternoon shade and they are fine. But the deer do like 'em.

My hostas, all new this year, are growing under our cherry tree and are mulched-- one side gets a morning sun and the other late afternoon sun. So far they're doing well. Liquid Fence is a great deterrent for deer and rabbits. I buy mine at Lowe's. It's stinky "hold your nose stuff while you're spraying" but it really does work! My hosta garden is circular so I just spray around the perimeter. If they are scattered, just spray around each one.

How very nice of you to share your Bengal Tigers, GAgirl1066! They aren't hardy for me.....just cut the leaves off mine last week-end, washed and air dried the tubers, then packed them in sawdust.

if you still Have Cannas, I have LOTS of tropicals but they are mostly seed still

Fruit, I used an egg yolk water mix and it is so much cheaper than the stinky deer stuff. Holds up in rain but you do have to respray every 4 weeks.

I would love some of your cannas.

LiliMerci, that's a great tip and is the same timeline for applying Liquid Fence. Guess that's why I thought it smelled like rotten eggs with a hint of cow manure in the heat. PEWIE!

LOL! One of my friend put a little bit of cayenne pepper in hers, but mine seemds to work fine w/o it.

Orange Park, FL(Zone 9a)

Haven't read that you unloaded all your cannas yet, so I'll propose a trade. Perhaps some white ginger? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1297/

Dmail me if you are interested. Good luck in any case!
