My favorite rooster is not doing so well. He is the rooster that I carry around everywhere while doing the farm chores. Long story cause I can go on and on about all the great things he does. In any case he and another rooster and the male guinea gained up on him and he was torn up pretty bad. Did really well for a week or so but now he is not eating and I am forcing vitamin water into him. Don't know how to get him to eat. He gurgles and coughs. I think he was injured in the neck area and it is worse that we originally thought. Not sure what to do. On top of it all he is pretty much blind. I don't want him to suffer but not sure I am ready to give up on him. :(

Poor guy! It is possible to tube feed birds. Open the mouth (the hardest part),press the tongue down and a little forward and you'll see a small hole at its base. The tube goes in there and will ensure that the food goes down the esophagus and not into the lungs.

Good thought porkpal. I took him back to his original coop where he knows where everything is and he started to eat and drink. The feeder and waterer are much bigger and he can see enough to not miss. Started antibiotics instead of vitamin water. We shall see.Still pretty gurgly though. I just worry because it will get cold tonight. Maybe I will bring him in for the night.

Sounds hopeful! I do think he might like to share the bedroom.

Sure hope he does well. Chickens are a hardy lot.
