secret trade

Hi!! the names are out, just got mine. Please be sure you have a want list, that really helps:) You may not get what's on it, but then again, you just might:)

Well I cant seem to figure how to put a want list on my page so I will just put it here. I would love anything tropical, Hostas, daylilys, anything varigated, I love vines too. Just about anything will be great.

Oh the person I got doesnt have a list up either so maybe the people who dont can post here.

i dont have a trade/wish list, but i like brugs, daylilys, tropicals, and hummingbird attracting .
i have never been involved in a secret trade before.
can i also tuck cuttings in?

It is helpful to have a "want" list but not necessary. If your person doesn't have one you simply surprise them with what you have. :)

I guess since I can't figure out to make my wanted/wish list
on my page, I will post it here too. so here goes...
I wish I had some perennial Hibisicus like the ones called "Dinner Plate's" and any color Burgs. Anything that is perennial to my zone (7) I am somewhat easy to please though because I just love flower's in general. *Ü* so if you can't send any of my wants, I will still be happy because even pretty weeds make me happy! LOL

MsJen, I put cuttings in mine last time. And I think I got someone else hooked, so I'd say go for it:) (especially if you have me!!!! :)

Ok for all those wanting to make a want list...

go to your trade list link on the right hand side of the page. Once there you'll see lots of categories, under seeds or plants. Select the catagory of where your "want" would fall. For example perennial under plants. Click the link at the top, "add a new item". Enter the common and botanical names. Skip the fields that asks from what year and how many since this is a want and not have have. If you want to add any general comments you may do so. The very last item on the page is the status, it is a drop down list that inlcudes "wanted". Selected wanted and click the submit button. Thats it, you can add as many as you'd like.

Jody, *wanted* isn't a default category. The first thing you have to do is add a category, then you can use it from the drop down.

Seeeee, all that is much too confusing to me so I am glad I put my wish list "here" instead of "there" LOL or else I would still be trying to get it posted!! LOL

The first step is select category, I used perennials as an example. You don't have to add a category, there are many there that are defaulted already. (unless it was changed since I started my have/want list)Then after selecting a catagory, "add a new item". Then the item info. Then the default drop down menu at the bottom of adding a new item is where the wanted is. It is the status field.

hey, it worked:) I didn't put my wants in as perennials and such. I added the wanted category first, then I just put in there what I wanted. I don't read instructions real well LOL!!!!

tiG, I just peeked. I think I like having a catagory called wanted, might be easier for folks looking at the haves not to have the wants mixed in. Good idea.

oh boy am i feeling smart this am, lol..just got an entry on to my trade list.
now all i have to do is walk around the yard and figure out what i have and what i want, its gonna be a long day, lol

OK ya'll now I all but called myself a dummy, But I went back and redone it and now I have a small "Want List" I did it !!!

Just sent my plant out along with a few extras. Hope to satisfy the person who gets them.

Just mailed my secret trade today. hope they like it! :)

I have no idea what I would "want!!" Just learning about all osrts of plants...so i'd be happy to get just about anything! (except a dead one... or another Japanese beetle like Herblady sent me!! tee-hee!)

I got my secret trade box sent out today, I hope the person recieving it likes it! ( I got a feeling she will ~ I hope so anyway ! ) As for the want thingy, I haven't figured out how to use it yet ( Litte slow , you know ) Anyways, I'll put a few here, Just in case it might help who-ever.
I would love to have:
Red Maltese cross
Red Helenium ( sneezeweed)
Globe Thistle
Pink scabiosa
Toad lilly
and any small sized hardy water lilly, or waterplant that's hardy in my zone
But, I'll also be happy with what-ever I get! This is so exciting, I look forward to the next secret trade! "Happy Gardening To All! "

Okay, I'm sending mine out tomorrow.... but I have a question....
do we put how we are on or in the box???? Or is it supposed to be totally secret???? Hurry and let me know, I can;t wait to send mine to my secret buddy because I know what I'm sending is on her want list!!!1 Tee-hee!!!

You might want to keep it a secret, especially if you are sending what are listed on the want list. Let it be a surprise, more fun that way!

Well, I guess I did things a little different from Tim ;0)

I e-mailed my secret pal after I took the box to the PO to let her know to expect it. I didn't tell her what was in it, but since she and I hadn't "met", I wasn't sure what she'd think getting a box with an unfamiliar name on it.

I guess I can chalk it up to a former career where I didn't open ANY box that I wasn't expecting and/or wasn't clearly identified as being from someone I knew. Which sounds a bit paranoid in retrospect, but old habits die hard, I suppose :)

No don't e-mail your traders, giggle. But YES do put your name in or on the box along with the "secret trade" words, so they know what it is and most of all who to thank! When I send a secret trade box thats what I use as the "From Name": Jody - Secret Trade.

I indicated on the box: Tim(DG), but forgot to write secret trade.
