Sorry for my late birthday wishes! Hope you have a beautiful day Gordon!

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Oh..Dolly... thanks... Yes it was beautiful...
There's no late... just later
Since then... though... the 50 mile an hour winds have raked across my exposed roof...
Tattering the plants quite throughly...
just as the time has tattered me...
Yet Dolly... it's time again for a new foam building... this time no metal...just bent foam pannels arching across to ones on the other side..
Did you ever get to do your foam project..

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Lol Gordon, your not tattered at all ;) You must have the energy of 10 men! Sorry your plants got tattered by the wind.
No, sad to say I never got around to my foam building. I think you had made a comment that a foam building may get too hot for Louisiana winters....so I really was concerned about using the foam.
Caren, (Heavenscent), suggested nursery plastic with chicken wire over the plastic. That's what most use down around Sweet Lake, Lake Charles, Holly Beach areas where most hurricanes end up making land fall.
I'm just now having the chicken wire/nursery plastic installed for our winter. Maybe I'll have good news about this type of GH.
I still plan on doing the foam flower pots as soon as time permits.

Hi Gordon, yes i rememberyou telling me your dad was from pace. I think you said he once had a store there.
lol girlgarden

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

OH...Well .. it was my uncle that had the store there..wayback in the day...if you ask anyone over 50 they might remember it... especially a male..he was Mitchel Kelly ..Kellys store I called it.. it was I guess near the bogue [ a bit of a creek..I think that was what they called it ] on 8.. from what I remember you could buy most anything there... with or without a seal...and drink it in the back room also.. and catfish bait and poles..some corn meal.. nu-grape and peanuts.. and play the machine in hopes of hitting the jackpot.. but I was a young child then..and remember that place like it was a temple of the dark side .. and going down to one of the fishing camps..in a big screened building down near you and eatting catfish and sleeping over at a cabin near there where the deer would come up to the door at night.. I was a relative gone north... but would spend summers about there some.. I had the best insect collection of all... when I went back to school in the 8th grade
the chicken wire and plastic...seem better there.. only an " R "rating of 2 on that.. the foam givesa bout " R - 12 " you need protection more than heat...even in the winters.. and you'll get to use the solar gain of the plastic..to keep it warm...especially if there's alot of stuff that stores the heat.. rocks/water... and even the moisture in the pots.. inside.. good luck with the nursery... the yellow and red canna bloomed nicely..thanks
Thanks Elva...well Hi Lbra.. a funny bunch... watch out... .. with Libras...it's not so much being in the influence of Libras balance .. as in balanced in the middle...but operating from one extreme to the other .. OH...as they say :)
Thanks Carolyn... OH.. before they hit the delta...fathers family was there in Euporia.. must have moved out when they got most of the levy finished.. it was Part of Mothers bunch that was out that way in Montevista..
on to the next year.. TY
oh.. the night blooming cereus didn't bloom the night the photo was taken.. or the next night..and the following one I checked in the morning.. and it was already passed.. mmaybe we'll have another for the fall.. if not surely when in comes inside to the warmth..
