Butterfly House is located in a far western St Louis suburb and is a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden (Mobot).
Certainly an enlivening experience to visit. We were the first visitors there on Tuesday; about 30 minutes into our stay a group of youngsters (probably in the early grade school range) arrived...it was really neat and somewhat inspiring to hear all the exclamations of joy and wonder abounding as they experienced the beauty of meeting some of the worlds most interesting animals.

So many different butterflies...really amazing!
Thanks Mark, tabasco.
jmorth...
Love the shots! You need to post the pics in Bugfiles too. I have a few pictures posted there from working at an exhibit in 07. It is coming again in March and these pics just reminded me how much I enjoyed it. I am no expert, but here are a few that may give you a start.
The first pic you may know is a Julia Longwing.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7125874 This is one of the Tiger Longwings
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7125927 Also a tiger they vary a lot.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7125906 A male Mocker Swallowtail I think
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7125917 Could be a Variable Cracker (hamadryas feronia)
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7125921 This is a dark blue tiger!!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7125932 That appears to be blue and would then be a Sara Longwing
Thanks Shelia. I'll try to make posts to bugfiles tonight.

You might research those names I gave you and see if you agree. Not beyond making mistakes, I know just enough to get me into trouble!
Completed. Thanks for the IDs Sheila. I researched them and agree with your initial determinations. The dark blue and the Sara were new entries.
Great!
