What is your favorite pecan tree?

Fairview, TX(Zone 7b)

Hello,
I would like to plant a pecan tree mainly for landscape value. However,
it would be nice some years to get some pecans. I already have a native with
tiny pecans so I would like a variety with bigger pecans. The Aggie site
mentions several but I would like to know actual experiences. Anyone?

Thanks!

I love Mohawk, the nuts are very large with thin shell, very easy to crack and excellent flavor.

One that is in my neighbors yard! LOL! I get the pecans and they have to deal with the leaves and limbs.

I love the flavor and size of Desirable, but for really great success, I suggest you choose from the list of varieties recommended for your area.

Womack Nursery, located near Waco, has good descriptions of the trees they sell. Maybe you could use the two sites to narrow down your list.
