Over winter

Landisburg, PA(Zone 6a)

I have differant varities of begonias that have been outdoors in the shade all summer...Now when I bring them in do they need to be close to windows or can they be out of the sunlight and just in bright light??????? Sounds like the cold is coming and I need to get them moved inside..........

Some can get by with dimmer light but for best results give them as much as they want or that you can - they stay healthier that way and that will make you happy. A win-win situation. My worse performers (and eventually dead ones) are the ones that get crappy light. Lessons learned.

do they just need more light in the winter???? they have done really well in the shade.....

It doesn't need more light in winter but it needs adequate light to stay healthy. You can always move them about to see how they respond. Usually a shady spot outdoors in summer is just fine but a dark corner indoors may not be enough.
