There is a temp prediction of 39 degrees with frost possibilities for Wed. night.
After that the predictions are for another week of warmer weather.
Is there some way I can protect the brugmansias for that one night or do I have to bring them in?
Only 2 are planted in ground but they have just started budding.
The rest are in pots from 2 to 6 gallon size.
any advice will be really appreciated.

Advice please.
If the temperatures don't go below 39, the ones in the ground should be OK. If you want to be safe, throw a blanket over them. The ones in the pots should be OK too, but the soil will cool off much more for the Brugs in pots than for those in the ground slowing their growth down, Freezing weather will do damage, that can vary depending on the cultivar and size of the plants. If you want to be really safe, take them inside.
It's been so long since I lived in Ohio, but I recall those northers could come on all of a sudden and without much warning. I remember getting caught in snowfalls in Cincinnati when the prediction was for rain.

Bettydee, is so right, I use sheets, to cover my Brugs, for that last & first frost, I have 26 yet to dig, I want to see my blooms, but I will be digging mine all next week , I have 4 Frosty pinks that are over 6ft tall, the local university just called me they are going to take them, every year I donate to them, they love it.
I think I am south of you, I live closer to cincinatti, aren't you close to Columbus, Ohio

that is a beautiful Brug. There is a lady that live down here that covers her brug with a sheet or blant.
Would the Christmas lights to keep it warm on a frosty night,Bettydee Do you think it would help, Elizabeth?
The lights would work if they can keep the temperature around the plant above freezing. The whole plant would have to be covered with something that traps the heat in so the heavier the material the better making sure none of the material comes in contact with the lights and that the lights are rated for outdoor use so you don't start a fire. You would have to monitor the temperature around the plant so you'll know if you have enough lights strung on the plant. Since heat rises, the lower you place the lights the better. Just don't place them directly on the ground. Water jugs filled with warm water and placed inside the cover would also help. Again it all depends on how cold it gets and for how long. A lot of variables.
Thanks
