Has anyone had any success organically controlly crazy ants?

Are Crazy ants different from Fire ants? I never heard of them.

Crazy Raspberry ants, yes they are different and yes we have another one to deal with. The same products that work on Fire ants will work on Crazy ants, they are both harvester ants.

This is the only thing I found on organic control. I suspect these will turn out to be a worse problem than fireants. And think how long we've had those...and they're still here and still are a major problem!

Raspberry crazy ants are far worse than fire ants. They are hard to eradicate. They are so bad that people who have crazy ants prefer fire ants. If you have them it is recommended that you get a professional exterminator to eradicate them. Knowing this, I was curious if anyone out there had success with organically controlling the crazy ants.

Clean Air Gardening contradictions them itself, in the first paragraph it states that the crazy ants typically ignores bait. Later it says to use the Texas Two-Step program which uses bait. From what I have been told from someone who has had first-hand experience with the crazy ants is they ignore bait and the organic measures that he used did not controll them. The only thing that controlled them was some heavy duty pesticide that was not organic and could not be used on vegetables.

If you want to know more about the crazy ants go to this link http://urbanentomology.tamu.edu/

On a postive note....they don't sting.

If they do not sting there is no way they are as bad as Fire Ants.

A quote from that last TAM link.

Quoting:
Biting and medical implications to people, livestock and wildlife: Rasberry crazy ants do not have stingers. In place of a stinger, worker ants possess an acidopore on the end of the abdomen, which can excrete chemicals for defense or attack. They are capable of biting, and when bitten, they cause a relatively sharp pain that quickly fades.

Glad they haven't made it up this way ..yet.

Geez! It has taken me 5 years to tolerate the fire ants and now crazy rasberry ants... I used to ignore them up north, ants I mean but now I watch for them constantly. I suppose it could be worse, they aren't army ants or bullet ants.

If they do not sting I am not sure I wouldn't rather have the crazy ants.
