Monticello, KY(Zone 6b)

What are you wanting in trade?

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Open to suggestions but really like sedums, even cactus for the house or something in that range - open to suggestions. These are caladium biLL's bulbs from the last coop I did.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I have a cactus that is 8 ft tall but may be too much for your house. Let me see if I can find a picture of it. Not many stickers but some.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

I have some pencil cactus (with roots), have peace lily (suitable for indoors), heart shaped Philodendron, mother of thousands, rooted Brug and seeds galore of other plants..see my page.

Ocean Springs, MS

I'd love a mixture if you want to trade. I have a variegated aloe, common aloe, prickly pear cactus, and autumn joy sedum. thanks, julie

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Just checking in - don't have time to answer anyone but wanted to say I don't have time tonight but I also found another container of caladiums to add to the full trade.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Julie are you bidding against me?? ROTFLOL

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Well, the 8 ft tall cactus sounds amazing - but how on earth would it ship? LOL

The mother of thousands is cool, I had one years ago.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I have 2 ft pieces I could ship or less if you like.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

what type of cactus is it?

Ocean Springs, MS

No, Sandy, not bidding against you. Just wanting a few of them-not all. love, julie

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Julie you know I only jest.

I must apologize immensely for not coming right back as I was planning. Just as I hit send and not browse to find a picture I was searching a picture and telling of my button mishap when my little dog was attacked and he is in surgery at the vet. I am so sorry I was coming back but my little "Lucky" was injured and is right now at this minute should be coming out of surgery. He is a Wee-huahua some call them Chi-weenies but he is a Hybrid (hehe).
I am so worried about him as I am typing as he is one of a kind just like my full weenie Princess. I was told to wait until 2:30 to check on him. :o(

I am not sure of the exact cactus it is. I took some to the College Station RU in the Spring and was told it was thornless. As I ran my fingers over it I got not one prick. But recently sent My Angel (;o) Froggies_girl a Tropical package and was about to add a piece and well it is not 100% thornless. 99.999 maybe. So she did not get one I am embarrassed to admit since joking with her.

I am looking for a for shot picture of it. Once out of a 4" pot for years it amazed me and stands over my head. Not even the tornado in Ike phased it. I will be back as soon as I locate a picture. But wanted to stop in and say why I disappeared. Sorry :o(
Say a prayer for my "Lucky"

Hope Lucky comes through his sugery in good shape. I don't have anything you might be interested in right now so I'll see how the other two come out LOL.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Here it is in the left of the picture after Hurricane Ike. This pine tree on my neighbors roof had a base diameter of 52". A Tornado during the night ( I won't stay home again ) twisted not snapped the top and laid it on the roof causing 16 small holes that did horrendous inside damage. It should have actually smashed the house flat. My neighbor who has to have dialysis was evacuated days before. The fear alone till daylight was beyond words.

Back to the cactus.

Ocean Springs, MS

Oh, Sandy. Prayers for Lucky. love, julie

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

My thoughts are with your little Lucky. I have 3 shih tzu's so I KNOW the love and importance they are in our life. Let us know.
Kathy

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Here it is 1 yr and 8 days later. I broke off the bent pieces and it grew by leaps and bounds.

I just called Lucky is waking from Surgery and can come home today at 5:00. I am so happy. He did have a torn muscle from my neighbors dog biting him. I ask if he should stay one night and they said they all go home and so he will be better in my care. Of course we all know that to be true. Nothing like a momma's love. :o)

A stressfull day so very talkative. :o)

Glad to hear Lucky got to come home. I'm sure he'll be fine in no time under your care.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

Glad to hear Lucky is better. .we have a Lucky, too. . but he is Maltese!

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks goodness. I'm so glad. I'm giving the bulbs to my friend in Florida.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I am sure your friend will be very happy. My best friend gave me a tiny piece of this cactus 20 yrs ago. It has been in the ground maybe 5 yrs.

He looks so bad. He had a torn muscle and has about 10 stitches on the outside and a drain tube in till Saturday. He has a cone to keep from pullig at the stitches and is fighting it awful. But he is on very strong 1 time every 24 hrs but the pain is very much still there. He won't let me put him down outside for nothing. he dug his paws around my arm and I carried him back inside. He is a silly little man. He does the best impression of a frog. He puts his back legs straight back and his front paws straight out and drags himself across the carpet with a silly grin on his face. I ask him (not now) where is my little frog man and he flops down and crawls dragging his belly across the floor. He is such a charm. He almost died at birth and he was named Lucky. He lived with 3 little boys until we got him last yr. I am sure he felt very lucky till today.

His back legs don't work from sometime in July he has nerve damage and this may make it worse. I have a failed back surgery and I have nerve damage in lower back and legs. We are best buds.

The dog is a huge blood hound and it is lucky I ran without stopping for my 38. As all cowards do he attacked my 8.9 lb Lucky as he turned his back.

Thanks for cheering for my little frog man.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh my gosh.. .I got chills reading about your lil' Lucky.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Did you contact the owners of that big dog? I would be asking for payment for the medical bills and let them know there won't be a next time as the 38 will take over the fight.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Do you have any caladiums left, if so what variety?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Yes I contacted her and she said oh he is home. He looks so good.
I ask you to decide by the pictures. She says she is broke. I don't know what to do but think she atleast needs to pay half.

Now she says the dog female is in heat she thinks and I want to know why she has had her for yrs and she is not fixed. I have had Lucky a yr and on SSDisability just have not had it. Plus my son got him and when I moved him out he could not take the dog. At the Vet he told his friend on the phone that "Lucky is his" where is the money to fix him? Have shots? or take him out now when it is such a job to be his caretaker 24 hrs a day. I am just tired. It is a rough job for me as I have things to do. I say don't claim him because he is hurt and he "my son" wants sympathy from friends....Step up and care for him. Ohhhh no he woke me at 5 and said I took him out and he won't atop barking.....DUHHHH give him his pain meds it is time....no I had to get up and do it. Grrrrrrrr I am on a frayed thing string but hanging on tight.

Here is what he looks like except for the puncture in his back side from other canine tooth.

Blessings,
Sandy

I would tell the owner of the attacking dog she can either put up the money for the vet or you will take her to court. Write a letter, don't talk to her. Mail the letter with delivery confirmation (only costs a dollar or so). Then keep those receipts. The letter should say something like On September ___ 2009 my dog was attacked by your dog at approximately 3 p.m. I witnessed this happen and ............ My dog was taken to _____ vet and ________procedures were done. The cost is _______. I expect you to cover the cost of the vet bill, which can be made in 3 payments (give her some options) with the first payment withing 10 days (give date). The following payments are due on the 4th of each month - something like that. If you do not comply with this I will contact animal control along with filing the proper paper work in General and Domestic Court. (That costs about $20 here ). It's worth a try.

Do you have leash laws in your town? This would apply to both dogs but your dog was in your yard.

IF you do nothing else I would strongly report this to animal control because this is a mean dog who has bitten your dog and you have proof.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

Definatly call animal control!! Did the incident happen in your yard?? File a report with SOMEONE...what if that dog had bitten a child?!?! ((yes, we consider our dog one of the family too)), but the owner of the other dog needs to step up and take responsibility!!

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Where did this incident happen..? Whose property? File a police report. Their homeowners insurance may cover the costs. They are responsible for any damages caused by their dog. Check into it.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

So glad to hear that your little one is on the mend! Poor thing! How scary for him that had to be.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes, you need to listen to the others about filing a complaint. My dogs are my children too. That is why you must take action. Like DirtyGirl stated, if that were a child you would file a report. The poor little dog will be scared to go outside after this.

Let us know what happens

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I did call the police department to speak to the dog catcher and he was gone till Monday. They said it was a dog bite a dog it is civil....Grrrr But if it was a person it is different. I am not a bit happy.

There are leash laws but neither on a leash but her dog was in my yard. It is only right they pay. I am not sure if I will talk to them first and then mail a letter certified return reciept of just mail the letter.

For her to have the nerve to think that he looked good just like it the picture above Good I have to beg to differ. I wonder if her dog had a 38 hollow point hole that goes in big and blows out huge looked goo if it lived. She trying to make it seem like it is not as bad as it is. Just the pain he suffered is enough for me to be mad. Then the money comes second. But to her she needs to be remember that money doesn't trees. I have enough different plants to know if it did I would own one that produced money and my whole lot would be planted full of them.

I am tired of people just taking the side of innocence when they are at fault. He had the drain tube removed an hour ago and I know it hurt. I could not bring myself to go back and watch. He is such a cute little man and it would be so different if it were the tables turned. I cried all the way their. I can't stand to see him in pain. He will have these scars forever. He is not vain but it will always remind me of the unnecessary pain and stuff he want thru.

It is also a full time job taking him out. He wants to eat out of my hand only and drinking water he doesn't seem with the collar on to care if he gets any. He hates that collar and that just irritates me more he has to wear something that irritates him.

I guess I am going to climb down from my soap box for a little while
as I have so much to do but I am going to take a nap as I can't sleep good since this happened.

It is sad that it has to come to me asking for the money. If she had felt bad about it maybe she would...but it was not her dog that was hurt. I am also going to insist the dog must be spay.

Be sure to talk to dog catcher Monday.
This is not right.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I wll and going inperson. A couple months ago a bull dog pinned my doxie to the ground in front of me. Only 3 small children walking it without a leash. When it had her pinned luckily it could not get a hold of her. I was screaming and I don't know how but the kids pulled off with its leash. Some neighbor said it attacks the fence if one of them walks up in the yard. I am reporting it also. When the kids pulled it off it was foaming at the mouth as it really wanted to kill her. I am keeping a shocel on the porch and I plan on taking the next one out. I won't stop hitting till it is dead.

I am so tired. I went out to an old homestead and dug some crinum, rain lillies, 2 potatoe vines, and a few surprise lilies. and found a few coral bean seedlings and also took cuttings of a beautiful oleander. It is hot and the mosquitos are eating where ever the repellent missed. One bit the skin right above my upper lip that really hurt.

I am going to take care of this some how. I also want the dog spay or it needs a diaper. I was told she would not attack if she was in heat. I don't know I never had a female that attacked in heat. I also kept a diaper on mine till she was could be fixed. Plus no other doge around so seems there would be other males running around.

I am going to shower to cool of and maybe take a nap. I have a lot to plant.

Hugs to all,
Sandy

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I agree, contact the dog catcher first thing Monday morning. I'm very angry at her behavior and she needs to pay. Civil court or not. You must send the letter delivery conf, certified, etc or you can't prove you sent it to her.

Kathy

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I am hoping to feel good enough to talk to them...her and hubby today. I have had a night of no sleep that was any good. I went up on some property that no one lives. The only thing there is the concrete slabs where the homes were. I dug some crinum, surprise lilies, took cuttings of a beautiful med pink oleander, dug a few seedlings from a coral bean. one spot has potatoe vines, and in a ditch along the raod a massive amount of white rain lilies. But with the heat and all I was to tired to do anything with them.

Princess wanted out at 1:00 am so I was out cutting the oleander branches and putting them in water and that is how far I got. So here we are I ma so tired and they wanted to eat so i let them out and feed them now heading back out to trim coral bean branches and putting them in dirt. I am still so tired but to let them go to waste after I got them I don't want to. The bulbs can wait till later.

I want to look them in the eye and tell them about they owe the bill. If they don't answer today I will send the letter certified return reciept. If they don't work I will talk to a lawyer and see how this is done. I don't believe I should be stuck paying one more thing that is not my fault. I want to also heavily insist she is fixed as there are some mean males we don't need running the streets because of a dog in heat. If they want to breed her do it then chop chop have her spay. WHAT are they thinking? Oh considering the last few days I guess nothing. DUH sorry but how I feel about them not making a move to spay and I guess not caring their dog did this.

If I get my courage up I will let you all know. :o(

He is doing good. He hates the kennel.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

You should make a police report... civil case or not you have a right to file a report. It was on your property.. your dog is your property. Leash law does not apply to your dog on your own property. Only to theirs leaving their property. Their dog damaged YOUR property.. your dog. You have to think of it in those terms for legal purposes....property. They are liable for those damages. If they are home owners and not renters, their homeowners insurance should cover the loss expenses.. if not.. I would make sure they know you plan to tell their insurance company. That may make them cough up the money because if the insurance finds out, they will start charging them an extra premium on their policy for a vicious dog policy. Those are EXPENSIVE! File a POLICE report.. not only with the dog catcher. Let them know you mean business.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I am mentaly working on it while working on trades I owe. I am just frayed all around the edges. On top of all of this SS Disability said they over paid me and my Oct3 check will be taken (the whole thing)
I applied for food stamps and she said they can't do that....when she read the letter she said oh I guess they can. The place I went to to help with my electric bill said the same thing till they read the letter also. SSD says they did this in sept 2006 when my DH died and they want me to prove I was not the one who did it? How could I have done it. I am not a CEO or congressman who can give myself a raise. Or prove it is a hardship. How could it not be?

Now I have another credit card with Lucky's bill and I was told 3 months interest free but be late one time and the finance charges are astronomical. Figures.

The police said it is a civil matter because it is a dog and not a human. I hope that person never comes to my house because they will find out just what a baby he is to me. And protect me I would really look out calling him a dog. I heard the worst bit is a small dog. They latch on and don't let go. I was told by a Doxie breeder that you can punch them over and over while they are biting you and they feel no pain. ^5 for little dog bites if their master or mistress is in danger.

I will tell them as soon as I am not so teary eyed. I want to be serious not weak looking. Today is just a bad day. Lucky is doing ok but when I look at him being his mom I feel all the pain he has had. It is just not fair. He is so little. Him and my Princess are my best Bud's. I couldn't make it without them. They really keep me laughing (not during this time) but every other day. I hate seeing him afraid also. He is no bigger that a mouse and did have the attitude of a Lion. Maybe because it is still new but more like the cowardly Lion.

You know it was bad when at the time it happened his anal gland discharged. Poor little man. He is quite the comedian up till now. I better get my heart off my sleeve or I will have to do this tomorrow to talk to them.

Thanks everyone for caring so much. I love you all.

Blessings,
Sandy

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Sandy,
Your baby will be fine because he has your love. You really got me when you said his anal glad expressed - NOW I'm pissed - and excuse me for saying it that bluntly. I have 3 shih tzu's so I know what I would do if some big dog hurt them and I can't imagine how you are feeling. Tomorrow is Monday so you should be able to contact animal control and everyone in the book - this dog is dangerous and if it were a child he chewed into they would have him put down. I would fight it to the end.

Keep us informed.
