CLOSED: pretty suire these are mallards, but the bluish area . . . .

on the wing makes me wonder. My books show the green head and white "necklace", so I'm pretty sure its a mallard, but I don't see the bluish area on the wing in my books, what gives?

I reckon this is a female mallard, the bluish area really stands out. Are the others juvies?

Hack, Mallard iridescent colors will vary somewhat depending on the sunlight. Here is a link explaining the blue coloration on the Mallard. Plus, domestic Mallards will have many color variations as a result of inter-breeding between feral and indigenous Mallards.

Yep, Mallards. The blue patch on the wing is called the speculum.
